Creative Recovery are a local community arts charity – a movement of people who share a mission to use creativity to bring about social change, grow community spirit and boost well-being and recovery.
Working in association with a team of artists that have experience in working across arts and health, they use a person-centred approach to create safe spaces in which people can flourish. The group are innovative, dynamic and committed to partnership working and collaboration. These people change people’s lives. Seriously, how cool is that? They are long-standing clients of mine. I love everything they do so I’m always thrilled when I get a call from them with a new brief.
They asked me to design a flyer for an event entitled ‘O Chocolat!’ at Sara’s Flowers and Teas. The chocolate theme is clear, but the team would also like to reference the music and poetry which will be supporting the chocolate tasting indulgence! Time for an illustration I think!
Delicious warm chocolate pouring down the page forms the shape of a simple piano. The flyer is text heavy so I used it as a feature with this lovely Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired font in mint, dark orange and raspberry colours. Yummy!
What the client said:
“It is rare to find a designer who is responsive, creative and just ‘gets’ a brief and feel. Steph brings a unique warmth to a very professional approach and is developing a real client empathy; knowing when and how to challenge ideas and when to nurture and create different solutions in both design and relationships. Her designs and style continue to develop and deepen and her commitment to supporting local business and emerging cultures is refreshing and a great asset to the Barnsley community. She is the top of our list!”
